Browns Creek Pump Station – In Progress

Browns Creek Pump Station is the most recognisable of the four pump locations in Lismore’s current flood resilience network – a focal point for the community and media during significant rainfall events.

Funding Made possible under Flood Risk Management Infrastructure funding through the Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program (NRRRP)
Status In progress
Timeframe Q3 2025
Disaster AGRN1012

Built in the 1970s and tasked with pumping stormwater from the low-lying Lismore basin into Wilsons River, the facility is set for a key upgrade which will include replacement of existing pumps, capacity upgrades and provision for additional pumps.

In addition, the station will receive an electrical upgrade and connection to a new fibre optic network allowing for the remote monitoring, operation and surveillance of Lismore’s flood infrastructure.

Combined, these enhancements will improve catchment response to local rainfall when river levels rise.
