Recent Damage
Severe weather in March and April 2025 worsened an existing landslip near the junction of Stony Chute Road, Whitney Road and Zouch Road. After thorough assessment, the road was closed for safety and to prevent further deterioration. This closure is expected to remain in place until at least August 2025 while emergency remediation is carried out. Where possible, long-term solutions will be incorporated; however, future closures may be required.
Funding
Based on Council’s detailed damage assessments, initial restoration funding associated with the 2022 natural disaster was secured through the NSW Government’s Essential Public Asset Restoration (EPAR) Program. This funding is already supporting works on Stony Chute Road, and Council continues to seek additional funding in response to the latest impacts.
Scope
EPAR funding requires assets to be restored to their pre-disaster condition and capacity. As such, upgrades or improvements are generally not included unless specific exceptions apply.
