About the Footpath Activation Pilot

To help support local shopping and vibrancy around all of Lismore’s business centres throughout the festive season, Lismore City Council piloted footpath trading and promotional opportunities from 1 December 2023 to 2 February 2024. This Footpath Activation Pilot Program has now concluded.

Please see the Lismore Footpath Trading, Promotions and Activation education flyer(PDF, 207KB), which outlines the Pilot evaluation, and current regulations and compliance across the Lismore local government area.

The Pilot aimed to demonstrate benefits for individual business, the local economy and business centre amenity, with a consistent approach that does not impede accessibility throughout our business centres. We value input from diverse stakeholders across the community, are liaising across Council teams, and looking at other communities' approach to footpath management, which informs evaluation and recommendations in development.
