Mackie Road

Project Timeline

  • Project Status: Completed
  • Completion Date: June 2024

Following the 2020 natural disaster (AGRN943) the Mackie Road concrete causeway at Johnston Creek suffered extensive damage. The road is a busy local sealed road connecting Rosebank and Clunes.

Under the DRFA guidelines, damaged assets may be replaced to current engineering standards. Funding was awarded to replace the damaged structure with a bridge to reduce impediments to fish passage.

The new bridge is a single span concrete structure of suitable width to provide a minimum 7.2m trafficable deck. The structure was constructed on the same alignment as the previous causeway structure.

The Mackie Road culvert to bridge replacement at Johnston Creek project began during March 2023 and was completed during May 2023.

Funding was secured through Australian Government's Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). This funding is allocated to repair damage sustained during the December 2020 natural disaster only. Additional works required and subsequent funding for Mackie Road are being reviewed.
