Leycester Road

Pavement rehabilitation is progressing well (July 2024) with approximately 250m of open drains completed and two culvert replacements installed. Over the next 4-5 weeks, open drainage and culvert works will continue with granular overlay to follow. Bice and Yeager Roads grading will be delayed due to these works.

Work on Leycester Road.

The works on Leycester Road are scheduled to take place from 1 July to 24 December, 2024, weather permitting.

What are the works?

Following the extensive damage from the February 2022 natural disaster, funding has been secured to repave the entire 3.6-kilometer length of Leycester Road, from Kyogle Road to Bice Road. The work will involve a granular overlay of the existing road surface, resealing, and upgrades to stormwater drainage.

During the construction period, traffic will be affected. The work will be carried out under a Traffic Control stop/go arrangement with a reduced speed limit. At times, motorists may experience significant delays to accommodate the construction of the new pavement.

Notification of the upcoming roadworks will be provided via VMS boards and updates on www.livetraffic.com as the construction start date approaches. Emergency services vehicles will be accommodated as necessary. Please adhere to all road signs and instructions from traffic controllers and exercise extra caution around workers.
