Sustainability tips

At request of the community, we are happy to introduce a new segment to the newsletter. Each month we will share a short but sweet piece on ‘how to’ make small changes that can help our collective efforts in protecting our planet.

Personal wellbeing leads to communal resilience

Take care of yourself. The unwieldly enormity of the climate crisis can be overwhelming, but support is available:

Energy saving tip

Only fill the kettle with as much water as you need before boiling it. If you do accidentally boil too much, keep it in a thermos until you next need it.

Forgetting you’ve boiled the kettle? Use the time to practice mindfulness, stay and watch the kettle boil – you’ll be sure not to waste it and you’ll get the benefit of some added mental clarity.

Resources

Energy Ready Toolkit: Developed by University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the toolkit is a new guide + resource pack aimed at supporting community discussions and workshopping.  The toolkit is a free resource for communities, you can download it or request a copy to be sent to you, then use it with your neighbours, your street or your wider community.
