Climate Conversation: Waste

  • Thursday 14 November, 4pm – 6pm
  • Community meeting room, Goonellabah Community Centre, 27 Oliver Avenue

Lets talk waste! At this Climate Conversation, we will be joined by local experts North East Waste as we delve in and focus on all things to do with rubbish, including the link between greenhouse gas emissions and what you put in your bins! Free snacks will be provided and all are welcome. If you're bringing kids, feel free to arrive a little early and grab some books from the Goonellabah library.

 National Garage Sale Trail

  • Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November 2024
  • Over 12,000 garage sales across Australia

Join the national Garage Sale Trail to pick up a bargain at a local garage sale or clear out household items you no longer use.  The Garage Sale Trail is a free, centralised promotion of garage sales, that aims to keep useful items out of landfill. Last year, 4.8 million kg of goods were given another lease on life, maximising the value of all the energy and resources that went into making and transporting them. The households, community groups and charities raised over $3.6 million. Find some local garage sales here. Happy shopping!

Lismore Community Garden Day: Banana Circle Demo, Garden Tour & BBQ

Come and check out the Community Garden in action! As part of Urban Agriculture Month, the Lismore Community Garden are hosting a welcoming day for all in the community, whether you’re a regular at the garden or you’ve never been before. Marketing for small scale farmers

Farming is a tough gig and generally marketing is a part of the job that gets left behind, when it is a crucial part of what a small-scale farmer must do. This FREE workshop is designed to help small scale farmers identify their “unique selling point” and how to communicate that in a way that best suites your personality and business approach. Good Soils, Good Food

  • Lismore Showgrounds

In celebration of World Soil Day, Northern Rivers chef Shane Runciman has crafted a stunning seasonal menu using 100% locally grown produce. As you enjoy the dishes, we’ll have a conversation with the farmers themselves, learning about their connection to soils and how it influences the incredible food they grow right here in the Lismore region. Regional Australia Institute’s Circular Economy in Action: Regional Perspectives

Last month, Regional Australia Institute released a report on Circular Economies in the Regions. The report aims to empower regions to realise the potential of a circular economy.
