Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (FRRR) – Alternatives to grants

Grants aren’t the only way FRRR help not-for-profits or community foundations.

How they work

One of FRRR’s fundamental tenets is that locals are the best people to make the important decisions about what is needed in their community. But sometimes, they need just a little help.

In addition to their granting programs, they help communities through Not-for-Profit Fundraising Accounts, and Community Foundation Accounts. These accounts are hosted by FRRR and allow rural communities to utilise our DGR status, enabling donors to make a tax-deductible donation towards their project. They can be used to fundraise for a wide range of projects or programs – provided they are for a charitable purpose and are consistent with FRRR’s objectives.

NSW Reconstruction Authority has kicked off a campaign promoting four apps as part of the Get Ready NSW program, to increase community preparedness for natural disasters.

In an emergency, time and location accuracy are critical. The Emergency Plus app gives your precise location for emergency services using three unique words and a tool to help you call Triple Zero quickly.

Knowing where planned and unplanned incidents are in real-time can help you make the best possible travel decisions. The Live Traffic NSW app uses advanced monitoring and traffic management systems so you can plan and see what hazards are impacting your route.

Check local weather conditions with Australia’s official weather app from the Bureau of Meteorology. Wherever you are in Australia, it gives you access to hourly and 7-day forecasts, radar, and weather warnings.

Flood Restoration - Roads and Bridges Program

Since the February 2022 natural disaster, we have had an extended period of wet weather, which has significantly affected our road network. It rained three out of four days between November 2021 and April 2022.

This resulted in 90% of our 1,200km road network suffering extensive damage, with an estimated $200 million to rebuild and repair. Significant damage also occurred to many bridges, causeways, reinforced concrete pipes, reinforced concrete box culverts and footpaths across our road network. Some key access roads have been reduced to single lanes due to landslips.
