Swooping magpies

magpie

Customers may contact Council to report a swooping magpie and/or enquire about what can be done in these situations.

Council does not have authority to authorise or carry out destruction of swooping magpies. As magpies are a protected species, any relocation or other controls need to be considered by National Parks and Wildlife Services.

Council can arrange for corflute signs to be put in key swooping areas to warn people of a magpie's presence. This is organised by our Environmental Strategies team in conjunction with the Parks & Open Spaces.

To arrange for a corflute sign to be erected at a particular swooping location, send an email through to Environmental Strategies at environmentalstrategies@lismore.nsw.gov.au.
