Bushfires present a threat to our built environment and communities. As a result, all proposed development on land that is specified as bushfire prone is legally obliged to consider bushfire and meet the relevant standards and requirements set out in the NSW Rural Fire Service’s (RFS) Planning for Bush Fire Protection (2019). To determine whether your property is located on bushfire prone land, use the RFS’ online mapping tool, the NSW Planning Portal or Council’s IntraMaps pages by selecting Environmental Natural from the list and clicking Bushfire Vegetation 2009. (Note: Council is in consultation with the NSW RFS to update the map content.)
