The abandoned railway line, unused since 2004, is getting a lively makeover. Spanning 132km and delivered in four stages, the trail will entice thousands of visitors to experience the Northern Rivers' stunning scenery.
The 16.3km stretch will link South Lismore to Bentley, winding through picturesque rural landscapes. The trail follows the old rail route, crossing through Tweed Shire, Byron Shire, Lismore City, and Richmond Valley Shire.
Construction kicked off in January 2024 on the Lismore to Bentley section, while the Tweed section opened in March 2023. The Casino to Bentley portion was completed in March 2024.
This trail promises a fun, safe way for everyone to explore nature, boosting hinterland tourism and sparking growth for local businesses.
