Level 2 water restrictions have been lifted from Nimbin, effective immediately.

The Nimbin community's efforts to conserve water and the recent rainfall have made this positive development possible.

Lismore City Council Manager Water & Wastewater Tom Lloyd said that DE. Williams Dam has returned to total capacity and under our Drought Management Plan, water restrictions can now be lifted.

"We owe this achievement to the Nimbin community's dedication to responsible water usage, which has allowed us to restore the D. E. Williams Dam to full capacity," he said.

"Current data indicates that we are well-prepared to maintain stable dam levels for the foreseeable future, even with removing restrictions. Water is a precious resource, and we encourage all members of our community to continue to use it responsibly."

Council will continue to monitor dam levels, water consumption and weather patterns over the coming months. Should circumstances change, water restrictions may be reintroduced to safeguard the water supply.

Please be aware that the Nimbin Rural Boil Water Alert remains in effect.
