Lismore City Council is tackling regional housing issues head on this Saturday with their inaugural Lismore Housing Expo at the South Lismore Bowling Club between 10am and 2pm.

Aimed at assisting local and regional residents with the information they need to feel secure and to invest in the city’s future, the Expo will showcase easy guides to accessing Council’s housing grant program, provide insights into the world of development approvals and cover sustainable and modular housing options for a future focussed region.

City Mayor Steve Krieg said the Lismore Housing Expo is an important strategic event for the future of the Northern Rivers community.

"The Expo will offer something to cater to the needs of everyone currently exploring housing options,” he said.

“Navigating the available options and processes can sometimes be challenging, but having all this information along with expert guidance in one location is an incredible opportunity for our local community and our region.”

Attendees to the Expo will have free access to a range of informative seminars, as well as tailored personal advisory sessions with Council staff designed to help navigate the DA process and understand eligibility for Council’s $15,000 housing grant program.

Cr Krieg said a key focus for Council was the provision of personalised sessions for residents in need financial and legal advice.

“We are committed to backing Lismore locals and investing in our recovery journey,” he said.

“We will be providing workshops on house raising, bushfire resilience and benefits of sustainable, and modular buildings.”

Lismore’s Housing Expo is focussed on community, with complimentary food, coffee and kids' activities throughout the day, as well as a range of opportunities to win Loving Local Gift cards.
