Batteries
Batteries should not be disposed of in waste or recycling bins due to their hazardous components, including lead, mercury and lithium, which pose environmental risks and may lead to severe fires.
How to dispose of old batteries
If it is safe to manually remove batteries from a product, tape both ends of the battery terminal and drop them off at the Community Recycling Centre at the Lismore Recycling & Recovery Centre, a Community Recycling Station, or any B-cycle drop-off point.
Refer to the Your Batteries Need Extra Care flyer below for guidance on safely recycling household batteries and a list of drop-off locations in the Lismore area. If a battery cannot be removed by hand or is embedded in a product, do not attempt removal; instead, leave it intact and take it to the Lismore Recycling & Recovery Centre for e-waste collection.
