Return & Earn

A Council staff worker operates the Return & Earn machine.

Return and Earn is the container deposit scheme in NSW that offers a 10c refund for eligible drink containers, aiming to reduce litter and encourage recycling. 

Council operates a bulk collection depot for anyone who wishes to recycle 100+ eligible containers.

Operating hours:

  • Monday 10am to 3pm
  • Tuesday 7.30am to 3pm
  • Wednesday 7.30am to 3pm
  • Thursday 7.30am to 3pm
  • Friday 7.30am to 3pm
  • Saturday 9am to 3pm
  • Sunday CLOSED 

Return & Earn rules

  • While the depot is staffed, people must be able to unload, carry and lift the bags or bins with containers onto the sorting table without assistance
  • Containers must be empty and cannot be broken or crushed, as the barcode must be able to be scanned by the counting machine. Any containers that are unable to be scanned will not be eligible for a refund
  • Reimbursements are in cash
