Council supports National Tree Day in Lismore
Council partners with urban Landcare groups and other supporters each year for Planet Ark's National Tree Day in July.
In 2017, a National Tree Day planting event will take place at South Lismore’s Duck Pond, on Leycester Creek.
The host group has been working on restoring native vegetation for over three years and has received a Fish Habitat Action Grant to support their work. This and other sites managed by Landcare are regenerating subtropical lowland rainforest with the aim to create a continuous rainforest corridor linking remnant vegetation at Currie Park. Council provides trees and mulch for this event, and is happy to help other groups and schools host their own event.
Every year thousands of Australians roll up their sleeves on National Tree Day to help plant over one million native trees, shrubs and grasses at more than 4000 sites.
