Project helps create convenient health precincts for Lismore

Lismore City Council is working with the Northern NSW Local Health District and St Vincents Private Hospital to look at how to create workable health precincts around these major health facilities.

Council is trying to identify the best ways to modify zoning and design parameters that will enable flexible housing density and good amenity for residents and patients visiting health facilities within the two Lismore health precincts.

Steering Groups have been established to guide the development of the two health precincts in the next coming years and residents are being consulted about proposed changes as they arise.

Practical changes likely to occur include co-locating health services near the hospital and enabling medium density housing for health workers, visiting trainee health professionals, and seniors who wish to live close to health services.

There is also a strong focus on making the areas easy to access by improving pedestrian linkages, signage and providing adequate parking.

Below are reports on health precinct workshops to date.
