Important information on our use of pesticides in parks, gardens and sporting fields
Council uses a wide range of pesticides to control insects, weeds, termites, fungus and many other pests in public areas. This includes parks, gardens and sporting fields as well as Council-operated facilities such as the Lismore Memorial Gardens.
It is important that everyone in the community has the opportunity to know when pesticides of high toxicity are being used or when we are using large amounts of pesticides in our public spaces. The Pesticide Use Notification Plan below is the guiding document that determines how we notify the community of these occurrences.
Council ensures that pesticides are applied to public places in a safe, responsible manner, minimising the risk of harm to the community, and to our environment.
For further information about the plan or pesticide use in general, phone our Parks Coordinator on (02) 6625 0500.
